Job Summary Initiates, develops and implements both short- and long-term strategies to support the Company’s strategic business plans and Indiana gas and electric operational needs.
Directs Indiana local government affairs activities for the Company in coordination with state government affairs, operations, community affairs and economic development.
Essential Functions Directs community operational updates in the company’s Indiana electric footprint to include generation transition, regulatory and rates impacts, community affairs investments, economic development opportunities and public policy changes.
Develops and directs community strategies for the Indiana natural gas footprint including: pipeline replacement programs, rates and regulatory updates, operational and leadership changes.
Develops and implements strategies for managing and mitigating operational risk with Indiana communities.
Attends and presents company updates at public meetings including: city and county council meetings, speakers’ bureau events, neighborhood associations.
Coordinates with CNP’s economic development team on community opportunities as well as develops relationships with key state stakeholders and industry experts.
Interfaces with CNP’s legal and government relations department to provide communications support for the company activities.
Leads organizational review of key contracts with Indiana local governments.
Reviews and evaluates business plans, policies and procedures, and external reports and filings from a local affairs perspective.
Establishes and maintains effective communications with the various regulatory agencies which have jurisdiction over the Company.
Represents the Company’s interests in dealings with regional and state trade, industry and professional organizations.
Provides advice, counsel and consultation on external community matters.
Monitors and communicates to senior management key developments in rate and regulatory matters that directly or indirectly impact the Company or its business environment.
Education Description Requires a minimum education of Bachelor’s Degree in political science, marketing, public relations, economics or related fields from an accredited college or university.
Experience Requires a minimum of ten (10) years leadership experience in government affairs, public relations, or marketing matters which include: Direct interaction with elected officials, and energy industry contacts Legal, lobbying, operations and/or communications experience in the energy industry We want you to know CenterPoint Energy and its predecessor companies have been in business for more than 150 years.
