RETAIL LOAN ADVISOR (Mortgage Loan Originator)

LOCATION: Evansville Region * Incumbent may be assigned and re-located to a branch within the Region as staffing and business initiatives dictate.
CORE HOURS: Monday through Friday 8 am – 5 pm * Over-time may be required if business and staffing needs dictate.

POSITION SUMMARY: Individual will ascertain and proficiently and extensively comprehend and perform the entire process associated with retail lending.
Incumbent will originate first mortgage and consumer loans, promote the financial institution and its lending services to the real estate community and help identify and serve the community’s financial needs through home loan counseling.
Solicit new mortgage and consumer loan relationships outside the bank’s existing customer base by developing referral sources and partnering with the bank’s branch and retail department network.
Individual in position will be responsible for being knowledgeable about all BSA related functions.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree required.
(Preferably Finance, Accounting or Business-Related Field) Three or more years of prior banking experience preferred.
Three or more years of prior lending experience preferred.
Demonstrated capability of producing and increasing a retail and consumer loan products portfolio.
Exhibited accomplishment of assigned sales goals.
Demonstrated experience with outside sales calls to develop new business.
Proficient with Microsoft Office programs.
Previous experience with Ellie Mae’s Encompass Loan Origination System preferred.
Experience with and knowledge of secondary market, government loan programs and private mortgage insurance guidelines a plus.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBITIES: Actively solicits first mortgage and consumer loans and consistently meet assigned production goals.
Interviews loan applicants, thoroughly and accurately completes each loan application and all pre-processing functions in a timely manner in order to comply with regulatory deadlines.
Reviews loan requests based on financial institution policies and on types of loans offered by the institution.
Analyzes applicant information to determine viability of the applicants desired mortgage loan and/or consumer loan program.
Provide guidance and information relevant to the risks and benefits of each program the applicant is qualified for and effectively explain and communicate the terms of each product.
Provides all required disclosures to the applicant.
Informs and explains prospective loan clients of the financial institution’s underwriting guidelines and applicable government regulations.
Collects and confirms all required documentation, financials, signatures, reports and collateral necessary for the loan have been collected, reviewed for accuracy, and meet all compliance and regulatory requirements.
Keeps all parties involved in the loan transaction informed during the process.
Submit necessary loan files and documentation to the correct personnel for the required processing, review and underwriting.
Determine the correct loan options for the borrower based upon the applicant's present situation, future plans, and preferred loan product.
Communicates complex approvals or denials to all parties involved in the loan transaction.
Analyzes the mortgage or consumer application for other products such as deposit relationships, credit cards, commercial loans, or other opportunities to refinance outstanding debt.
Schedule the loan closing with applicant(s) and other parties involved in the loan transaction.
Stays educated and informed on new legislation and regulations that may affect the financial institution’s lending policies and ensures compliance with the department’s policies and procedures.
Promotes and participates in the financial institution’s special credit programs and other CRA programs.
Actively works to build relationships among other departments and retail branches for increased referral business and leads among and between departments and branches.
